Opti Smooth Normal

I have fine, naturally curly hair. I have used several smoothing systems all with great success. I loved the last one I used since it was a keratin based system that made my hair smooth, thicker, silky and non frizzy. It was discontinued. My stylist said Matrix is a good product so we decided to give it a try. She followed the directions exactly as described. When finished my hair was not smooth but rather dry, brittle and the ends were completely fried and damaged. She had to cut at least an inch off. I have tried hair rescue treatments and masks. My hair feels stiff like card board and is fuzzy/frizzy and dry. I absolutely do NOT recommend this product. This is the worst smoothing system. It is exactly the opposite of smoothing.

Strictly follow the instructions, result looks good, hair is also conditioning. I used the cream for resistant hair.But the client complain the curls come back after one month.

I personally use this on myself and this is a top service at my salon. A lot of my clients have curly frizzy hair texture and are looking to tame their hair down. Helps with shine and growth. This system as really amazing if properly used.

I'm a professional hair stylist 19 years now and tried this on one one my clients with natural (never colored medium length wavy frizzy hair) whom just wanted the frizz away but keep the waves hence why we didn't Straighten it with the iron during the process and did the Exact process timing and all it called for just to get rid of the frizz... her hair is the Same as before with Frizz so her money was wasted . I want to give this another Try but I am hesitant . I have 2 more kits on me and want to get rid of them so I can try a diffrent smoothing system . Help or Matrix please give me other suggestions for this scenario since I do have more client's that want the Frizz Only out But not the Curl

I have very thick hair, tight frizzy curls. Used many other products with not very long lasting results. A friend referred me to have this done and have been having it done ever since for about 5 years now. My hair is shiny and soft and smooth - just perfect every time! My stylist is a perfectionist and has also said the technique is important to get best results. Have gone from hating my hair (keeping it short) to loving my hair (longest I've ever had it).

Looking for advice from a Matrix specialist. I had this done 2 days ago and my hair is breaking off and has a "stretchy" consistency to it. I asked for a "keratin treatment" as I've done many times in the past and did not understand that this was different. My stylist bleached my hair 2 months ago and advised I wait 2-3 weeks for a keratin treatment - now I read that Opti Smooth cannot be done on bleached hair. Devastated to think I'll have to go from long healthy hair (past my bust) to hair that is shorter than my ears to cut past the breakage. I understand that your product should not be used on bleached hair (I honestly didn't know I was getting something different until after she started) and I am really hoping there is something I can try to salvage my hair? Any advice appreciated!

I had a stylist use this on my hair (she uses it herself) and I love it! I had it done 4 months ago and my regular stylist is so impressed with the health of my hair! I have had every type of straightening done and this is, by far, the best ever! Thankfully the girl who did it knew to apply it about an inch from my scalp so that I still had volume but the bulk was straightened. It takes only about 15 minutes to touch it up with a Chi, on the ends, and I look fabulous.

I used this product several years ago and was pleased but not wowed. I learned that the stylist used the cold process then. This time the hot process was used and I cannot begin to say how very pleased I am. After several years of drought in my area, we now have had tons of rain and the humidity is awful. My hair was so bad that I wore a hat as much as possible and still it flipped out around the edges and looked horrible all the time. I had the treatment done about a week ago and have been so pleased! Even in the humidity it looks great. No more frizz! No more crazy waves! I have even let it air dry and it took about 5 minutes with a flat iron to achieve a super sleek and soft style! I won’t be without this treatment in the future!!!

My sister is a licensed cosmetologist and she performs this service on my hair and has for the past 10 years. We do it about twice a year. There have been times she was unavailable and someone else did it. That person did not handle my hair as delicately as she should have and IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE! Another time my sister wasn’t around, I received a Keratin straightening treatment that cost more than I normally pay and it lasted 12 weeks and it really didn’t straighten as well as the Matrix Opti Smooth. I was VERY surprised to see the negative reviews of this product. So the condition of your hair going in and the stylist experience performing the treatment can play a major role, please keep that in mind. Personally, I think this is the BEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET!

At first treatment, I lost about 8inches due to previous bleaching ((heavy bleaching and practically torture to my hair)). My hair is naturally SUPER curly and frizzy, and even then it straightened it right out. It WAS however a bit poofy still, and required a hot brush or flat iron to smooth ((again, this is due to hair health at that time)). I went back for 2nd treatment recently which is about 8-9months from initial treatment, with healthy hair, and the secondary result is just PHENOMENAL!! For anyone experiencing issues or leery of the service, please ensure your stylist does a strand test first. Certain hair dyes and of course harsh bleaching will react negatively and result in damage. After my 2nd treatment, which we also retouched the previous straightened hair, not a bit of damage was incurred and if anything, my hair came out not only WICKED sleek and smooth, but even healthier looking!! NO flat iron required at all now ((hot straightening brush when roots come in works wonders btw!! few quick passes and 5mins of your time with hair as curly as mine while you’re in between touchups!!))

I got this treatment done at a salon last week and my hair still smells of pure chemicals. I went back to my stylist and she used a clarifying shampoo twice to get out the smell and it still is unbearable. My husband and I have to open the windows and wash the sheets every night to air out the smell. This has been completely humiliating. I don’t know how to get out the chemical smells that almost smells like a burning tire. Stay away from this product and be grateful for your natural hair!

i have had matrix opti smooth done for me 6 months ago, now i am in Turkish republic of northen cyprus and it appears that no salon at this area can do touch up for roots for me..!! i really liked the product but ever since those roots showed up it is falling down!! i need a touch up

I have had many keratin treatments done in the past and when my hairdresser went to supply house they did not have the one we normally used which was Cezanne or Pravana which bother were amazing tamed by frizz left my curl. First let me say my hair was healthy and full , now it looks burnt on all ends it is a mess will never use a Matrix product again

I'm surprised at the negative reviews on this product and the comments stating that it doesn't work. I have extremely course, wiry, tight wavy and curly hair. I am 60 years old and have struggled with my hair all my life. I've tried store bought relaxers, keratin treatments, Brazilian blowouts, etc. Nothing has ever worked as well for me as this treatment. I have a professional do the treatment once a year, at the beginning of summer. Usually by January or so I'm ready for another treatment, but I hold out till early summer to avoid damage. This product is amazing when done correctly. It's a time consuming process, but well worth it. To those who haven't had great results, I'd say try another professional to do the treatment.

I got this treatment done at a highly rated salon. Didn't work the first time, so got it re done. My hair is still very puffy and frizzy... Still have to straighten it after spending $300 for the service.

I use this twice a year with fantastic straightening result. How long after can i colour my hair??

I am a hairstylist however I have never used this product and wanted to try it for myself. I have fine curly hair with little frizz however when I try to straighten it with a hair dryer and flat iron it gets very frizzy no matter what product I use to control the frizz and my hair lasts straight for about 10 minutes berore it gets poofy and starts to curl back up. I love my hair curly but I decided a change would be nice so I purchased this product. I did it at home and opted to use the heat process which took quite long however I got amazing results which made it so worth the time. Since my hair is fine I only left the product on for 18 minutes. Checking it using the knot method after 12 minutes and every two minutes following. I wanted to ensure I did not get any breakage so I made sure that I did not leave it on too long. By the way I used the one for normal hair. After I finished the process and dried my hair it felt soft and smooth, not at all like I processed it will a relaxer. however I did need to use a flat iron to make it extra smooth but that’s probably due to the fact I was doing this myself and at home and unable to see the back of my head. I probably could have left the product on a couple minutes longer however my hair is color treated and very fine so I opted for it to be a little under processed to ensure I didn’t have any breakage. I would definitely do this again and provide the service for my clients however I would closely monitor their hair so that I keep the integrity of their hair and leaving them with amazing results.

The only product that works to permanently smooth/straighten my hair. The person applying the product has to know what they’re doing and what kind of result you want. Otherwise your hair can become damaged or it just won’t work. It can relax or completely straighten curly hair. Hope it never goes away

I had this done at a hair salon last week and ended up with dry frizzy and still curly hair. It looked excellent when I walked out but as soon as washing it (after 4 days) it became curly, dry and unruly- possibly worse than how it was before I went to the salon. I trust the salon in doing a good job as they have had experience with this product but I feel it was the product that failed. In the past I have had countless Keratin treatments as well as Bio Ionic permanent straightening. I have never had a problem and have found Bio Ionic to always deliver excellent results regardless of the condition of my hair. Definitely reccommend spending the money and going for a higher end product if you have very curly hair.

I would recommend this for anyone with uncontrollable frizzy curly hair!! I can actually wash n wear now no need for a hot iron even

I dont know why everyone is having such a hard time in the comments. Im only 20 and not trained at all and I am successful 95% of the time with this, like literally its so easy and it works. Its a blessing for my hair and makes it feel healthy and smooth, (except for this one spot every time it gets fried) other than that allllll of my hair is perfectly fine

I have been using this product for about 8 years and I love it ! I do a touch up ever 6 months from the new growth . Makes my curly wavy hair much easier to maintain and cuts down on blow dry time . I also color my hair and have had no problem with damage. I couldn’t live without this product !!!!!

Have had great results on curly and wavy hair. Smoothing hair and completely straightening depending on whether I used the cold or flat iron process.

My stylist used this product & it totally spoiled my hair. I had soft wavvy & frizzy hair. After using this product, my hair is still wavy, 3 times more frizzy than before and it feels like a broom now. It is very very dry and rough. Do not use this product at all.

I had an awful perm that just didn't work, I had frizzy uncontrollable hair. I did this myself at home, my hair is now soft smooth and straight, much better quality. I also use the keratin shampoo, conditioner and spray

I went to the salon & had this system used on my hair. I went from 1.5 hrs+ to get ready to go anywhere if I was going to wear my hair straight to 30 minutes from start of shower to the end. It blow dries Straight!!! I have NEVER had hair do that!!! It was always frizzy until I would get the ceramic straightener out& spend forever on it. I didnt even have to section off my hair this morning to dry or straighten it! I am just amazed. It's truly life changing for me.

Hello, I made this treatment twice. The first time my hair was virgin and everything goes fine. The 2nd time was terrible. The same stylist use a different procedure: Does not put enough pre treatment and apply in all hair for about 30. Not on roots as directions says. Hair brokes in many parts, very ugly ) : I spent $400 for damaging my hair. What can I do? This is really frustrating and sad. I loose all my previous long hair. ) : Really appreciate your advice. Thank you

The product completely destroy my abundante curly. hair. Damaged my scalp. I has picor for several weeks and the hair start to fall from the root. Shall be out of the market. Asap.
