Whaaa! (That’s me crying) So sad you changed my favorite shampoo and conditioner ever! My hair was a hot mess after using this new formula of Mega Sleek. Dull, flat, wouldn’t hold a curl…and smells terrible. Boo! I have used these products for 10 years and now I’m scrambling to find something else. What were you thinking changing perfection? Please bring back your old formula!

Why are you selling a completely new formula in original bottle? It's a completely new product: color, smell and it's effectiveness.
It completely weighs down my hair and makes it look dull and flat. Original formula left it shiny and smooth. Have been using the original for about 15 years.

The new formula is awful!! The scent is so over powering, and it’s not a good smell either. My hair feels so dry and my scalp has been so itchy since this switch in ingredients. I am so sad, I’ve been using this product for many years. Please, bring back the old formula. It was so much better than whatever this is.

New formula is absolutely horrid!

Bought five liters to stock up. Lo and behold, we received the new formula, and there wasn't a single thing on the packaging to indicate this. My daughter found it out the hard way when she used it. She has severe sensory issues, and this change is absolutely awful for her. First, the scent is like a bad candle from the discount bin that's been marked down five times because they can't give the thing away. Who on Earth wants their head to smell like a bad candle?! We're all allergic to scents like this in our house, and it took me four full hours to clear it from our home. Second, and most importantly, my daughter actually experienced an allergic reaction to the new formula itself. She was pretty much covered in hives/welts from the top if her head to her feet because it traveled downward as she tried to rinse it out. She grabbed her medicated shampoo from the dermatologist and used that to get it all out if her hair. Two Benadryl and four hours later, her hives and the bad candle scent finally went away. Here's the thing: It's your product. You're free to ruin a good thing if you want to (and you clearly have), but you should at least do something to call extra attention to the change on the packaging for awhile. Something like 'new formula' for example would have been appreciated. Anyway, I foresee a LOT of complaints and disgruntled customers in your future. Some of us will share our thoughts and other's won't bother, but we all have one thing in common. We will find a different product to meet our needs. Also, you should keep in mind that this type of thing tends to break the trust between the consumer and the brand as a whole, not just a single product. After all, if you're changing formulas, why would one want to find a new product they like just to have it be changed without warning also? Something like this wasn't a formula change really. It's simply a different shampoo. You should have just created a new line and left Mega Sleek, a well-lived favorite among stylists, alone. We will be taking all five liters bottles back to Ulta tomorrow.

HELP - Smoothing color-treated hair

I love the smoothing effect of this product. HOWEVER..... it removes the color (from hair dye) after washing my hair a few times. I wish that the company created a product which smoothed hair for those of us who colored our hair.

Matrix Mega Sleek Made Me Love My Hair Again
I received the Matrix Mega Sleek Smoothie Supreme Mask, Smoothing Conditioner, and Smoothing Shampoo complimentary from Influenster, and I am genuinely blown away by how well they worked for my hair. I have a mix of 2C, 3A, 3B, and 3C curls that are high‑porosity, often dry, and now more than 50 percent white. The new coarse texture has made my curls feel unruly and harder to manage, and it’s been tough to feel like myself as the gray has come in.
These products changed that for me. My curls were soft, shiny, and bouncy, and they popped in a way I haven’t seen in a long time. I was worried the line might leave buildup, but it didn’t at all. Everything rinsed clean, and my hair felt hydrated instead of coated.
On the rare days I wear my hair straight, this line impressed me even more. Nothing has kept my frizz under control the way Mega Sleek has. The smoothness lasted, the shine stayed, and my hair didn’t puff out by midday.
I loved these products so much that I immediately purchased the Mega Sleek Anti‑Frizz Topcoat Serum. It was the perfect finishing touch.
Matrix Mega Sleek didn’t just make my hair look better. It made me feel like me again.
Highly recommend for anyone with curls, high porosity, or coarse grays who wants softness, shine, and real frizz control.

Horrible, the new formula does not meet my standards. It does not smell as good as the original. I brought it back once & tried a different product and thought I could try it one more time but still not happy with the new formula. Don’t like the new scent and will be looking to buy a different product again. Would appreciate going back to the old formula. There were no indicators on the bottle that this change even happened. Was disappointed in that. I actually thought I bought it and it was out of date that it smelled bad.

I am deeply disappointed by the new formula. It is trash. Likely that is because swapping out shea butter for Oleic Acid and Jojoba Oil is NOT comparable. I can only think that this was in an effort to save money and skimp on quality. It leaves my hair frizzy, the opposite of sleek. Nothing close to how it used to work. Please go back to the original formula that worked so well!
I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for over 15 years. I bought it again, and there was NO indication that the formula had been changed on the bottle, so effectively I was tricked into buying this new formula. I have relied on this brand for so long, and now I will need to find another product. I will NOT buy this again, unless they return to the original formula. Very disappointing.

This hydrating smoothing shampoo from Matrix has been a great addition to my shower routine. I’ve used it with the matching conditioner and conditioning mask and my hair has never felt healthier. My hair feels soft, hydrated, and healthy. I highly recommend trying it if you’ve been looking for hydrating hair care.

I’ve been using this shampoo along with the smoothing conditioner. It does a great job of thoroughly cleaning yet keeping hair moisturized. I have wavy hair, and usually after washing, my hair becomes one giant frizzball. I’ve noticed a reduction in frizz after washing, but I especially notice a difference the next day. My hair looks shinier and smoother. The shampoo has a nice citrusy scent. I have confused the shampoo and conditioner bottles more than once, so it might be good to differentiate them a bit more.

New formula is not good

I have used this shampoo for years but the change in formula is awful. The shampoo is thick and yellow. It does not lather well and leave a residue feeling on my scalp. My hair is not easy to comb through. I will return it and try something else. :(

Great smell but didn’t feel like it did much

It lathers well and it did leave my hair not so dry/coarse-feeling after rinsing. I can’t speak on how it feels on the scalp since I have seborrheic dermatitis so I didn’t apply it on the scalp. I honestly didn’t feel like it did much for my hair other than it wasn’t as drying as most shampoos are but imo I can always follow up with a good conditioner to really counteract the dryness.

I've used this product for years and this new formula is awful. The smell is terrible and the new change doesn't have the same effect with taming frizz please change it back!

Fresh not Frizzy

This shampoo from Matrix really helped my frizzy hair. I really noticed a positive change with dandruff too. The shampoo lathers great with just a small amount, and smells wonderful too. It rinses easily and I am able to go a couple days without washing it again because it leaves the hair feeling fresh and less products is needed for frizz.

This shampoo lathers extremely well and doesn't dry out my scalp at all. It smells amazing (this whole line does) and I'm fairly confident this bottle is going to last me a while. I don't know if it has any true effect on calming any frizz, however.

Another repurchase for me. Love the smell, reminds me of sol de Janeiro and will be repurchasing. Leaves my hair feeling smooth and hydrated. Used daily and the none of this line makes my hair feeling greasy or weighed down.

A favorite RUINED by STRONG PERFUME!

The new scent is STRONG . If you like the scent you may enjoy the product but save yourself complaints and ask before using this on a client. I for one wont put that scent on myself again or use it on a client without them smelling it first. I have been using Matrix Mega Sleek for over ten years and the lightly scented original was not an issue for clients who favor products that are unscented or at least subtle. Now the perfume is a deal breaker. I have had good results from Matrix Mega Sleek for over ten years but now I will need to find a replacement. You have ruined one of my favorite products!

Having been using this shampoo for years! I hate the new formula-leaves my hair feeling sticky and difficult to comb through . The smell is also displeasing. Reminds me of a big box store type product not one of salon quality Please switch it back !

The best shampoo I have ever used!
I had been struggling lately with my dry scalp it would get very flaky and I have tried many things to fix it but this shampoo is a game changer it hydrates my hair very well which has prevented my scalp from flaking the shampoo also smells so good it smells very fresh and clean but also sweet which I really enjoy. I would definitely recommend overall but especially if you are struggling with a dry scalp as I have noticed a tremendous difference.

I really like this shampoo but for the amount of product I put in my hair in the summer I feel like you definitely need to double wash and use a clarifying shampoo first if you have wavy or curly hair! Other than that I love the scent and consistency and I think the line all together has kept my hair so smooth!

I was pretty pumped to try this matrix shampoo.Despite the horrible, bright orange color of the bottle (and really the rest of the bottle design is horrible too--so many fonts and colors and directions). Plus the bottles are printed different directions. They get half a point for having the conditioner be the bottle that opens upside down so it doesn't pour out when you flip the lid, because it's a thicker product, I'll give them that, but since the design of the bottle is not really the most important thing here, I do love the shampoo. It smells absolutely glorious. It's a smooth clean shampoo despite not having any sulfates. it rinses so easily and quickly, and a little goes a long way so this bottle will last a really long time. Plus there is an entire system with a conditioner and masque so you can make sure all your products are working together!

I absolutely love the Mega Sleek line! I’ve tried so many different products that didn’t help tame my frizz, especially in this South Carolina Lowcountry heat and humidity. It’s hydrating and conditioning by itself. Whenever I color my hair myself, I’ll shampoo 3 times to make sure the color has rinsed out and then let air dry for a few hours so my hair can really absorb whatever product I use next. Just the shampoo really conditions, detangles and hydrates while it cleanses the oil and product buildup.

The shampoo leaves my hair smooth shiny and soft without drying it out. It also helps reduce frizz and adds light volume. The bottle easy to use and convenient it in shower. The shampoo has a smooth texture. A small amount goes a long way so the product feels worth the price.
