How To Have An At Home Spa Day

Practice self-care and pamper yourself with an at home Miracle spa day. You deserve it.

Self-care is essential for your well-being. Too often, we spend our time caring about everything else-- caring about work, caring for family, caring about our homework, lives, pets, friends, you name it. But then we forget to care about ourselves.

When was the last day you’ve had a girl’s (or guy’s) day in? You really can spend this time all alone without feeling guilty. Or with a few modifications, such as taking turns in the shower or bath, or using a second bathroom if you’re so fortunate (I live in a one-bathroom house with 3 males) you can invite a friend for a little pair self-care and enjoy an at home spa day together. I had the opportunity to do just that in a hotel with my best friend recently, and it was beyond perfect bestie time. Today though, I’m setting some time aside just for myself, and so should you.

Prep the environment

Putting yourself in the right mind frame for self-care starts by setting the stage for your ideal environment. Take the time to make your area serene, calming, and comfortable. You will be able to lose yourself in the process more easily if you don’t have to think about things to clean, or projects or chores you need to accomplish. If you can find time when your house is empty to spend some self-care time, even better!

Make your environment spa-like:

Take a few minutes before you begin, and prep your spa space. Clean your bathroom and relaxation zone. Put out clean towels, washcloths, and bath sponges. Get out your favorite bathrobe and put away any extra clutter.

Remove distractions:

This is the perfect time to shut off your devices. Let your time be just for you! Let your family or roommates know that you’re taking a little time for yourself, even if it’s just 20 minutes. Don’t let your schedule trick you into thinking you don’t have time to practice self-care. If you don’t care for yourself first, who will?

Set the mood

Nothing will put you into relaxation mode faster than if you not only tidy your environment but set the area up to become a tranquil spa-like space. Imagine your ideal spa. Is it crisp, white, and fragrant? Dark and rich colors? Is there low light and mellow vibes? What is your Miracle Spa like? Try to create your ultimate at home spa experience to the best of your ability.

Create the Vibe

Freshen the air by opening a window or mixing a few drops of essential oil into water, shaking thoroughly, and spraying the air. Set out fresh flowers or fresh-scented herbs. Prepare your spa and hair products. Light candles.

Make it your Miracle Spa

Prepare yourself some cold, infused spa water to drink with fresh fruit and mild herbs. Have tea and a kettle ready for after your relaxation session. Play soft, tranquil spa or ambient music. Fill the tub or preheat the shower. If you have a bathtub, add a bath bomb for extra relaxation. If not, hang fragrant herbs or flowers from the shower faucet behind the shower head.

Cleanse your face

Cleansing your face first will help you remove dirt and oil before your pores are opened by the bath or shower. Keep the water below hot to prevent drying the skin, but warm enough to clear skin from oil and debris.

Freshen your complexion

Remove your makeup. Start with a clean washcloth and dampen it with warm water. Place it over your face for about 30 seconds to soften and loosen any residual makeup or dirt.

Double cleanse your face for best results Using a cleanser suited to your skin, massage into your skin using circular motions. Rinse with lukewarm water, and cleanse again. This removes any remaining dirt or oil, preparing your skin for the next steps. Use a gentle face scrub, and massage over your face lightly, scrubbing dry areas first.

Cleanse your body

We have approximately 22 square feet of skin on our bodies, but most of us do little more than a quick wash in the shower. Take this opportunity after soaking your skin to help expose new skin cells and to soften your overworked areas.

Scrub your skin

Warm and soften your skin in the bath, or stand in a warm shower. Choose a pleasant-scented soap or body wash that suits your skin’s needs. Lather up a washcloth, loofah, bath puff, or bath sponge. Personally I’m a big fan of a konjac sponge made from charcoal and bamboo. Massage the lather around your dry-skinned areas such as knees and elbows first. Scrub your feet using a firm washcloth and light lather.

Cleanse your hair

Choose the best products for your hair type

Choose your favorite Instacure Shampoo for your specific hair needs. For example, choose Hello Blondie for lightened and dull blondes that need a little extra love. If you’re a blonde or brunette with brassy hair issues, choose So Silver or Brass off to control your warmth. If you’re looking for sleekness and hair shine, choose Mega Sleek. There are nine ranges of Total Results haircare lines to suit your hair’s specific needs.

Cleanse your hair once or twice

Ever wonder why they say “lather, rinse, and repeat”? Sometimes if you’re not shampooing daily or if you use a lot of hair product, you’ll get a buildup of oil, dirt, and products on your hair and scalp. I recommend shampooing your hair twice if you’re washing less often than every other day. Once all over and once just at the scalp area.

Care for your face

I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 15 years, and I’ve never once heard anyone say “I wish i would have started taking care of my skin later.” Time and again I’ve received advice and discussed the benefits of starting a skincare regime while your skin is still youthful. That being said, your skin renews itself easily with a good skincare routine and products. Building a skincare routine now will have your skin looking and feeling fresher in no time.

Keep skin youthful

Apply a moisturizing, normalizing, or anti-aging skin mask. Allow to sit on the skin for the time recommended by the manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse with cold water, then pat dry. Apply treatment serum if desired.

Care for your body

Massage can boost collagen production, keeping skin looking supple. Scrubs help brighten skin by removing dead skin cells, which brightens the skin and gives you a radiant appearance. Combine the massage and a skin scrub for a knockout combination that keeps your body looking youthful.

Exfoliate skin for smoothness

Use a body scrub and massage lightly over your entire body, focusing on dry patches. Rinse in cool water.

Care for your hair

Our hair can take a beating from the elements, styling, and chemical treatments. If you need a hair miracle fast, use a multi-tasking conditioning hair mask and a leave-in treatment.

Hair Miracles in Progress

After shampooing, apply Total Results Miracle Creator multi-tasking hair mask to wet hair. Wait 60 seconds while Miracle Creator goes to work.

Miracle Creator has 20 benefits: it nourishes hair, boosts hair shine, smooths hair, prevents hair breakage, is lightweight, helps control frizzy hair, fills in porosity, detangles hair, boosts silkiness, helps control flyaway hairs, helps prevent split ends, hair feels soft, improves hair manageability, primes hair for styling, restores hair suppleness, helps control static, improves hair texture feel, hair looks healthy, suitable for all hair types including color treated hair, and hair strands are left revitalized.

After 60 seconds, rinse with cool water and dry with a microfiber towel.

Treat your face

Help prevent the signs of aging by keeping your skin clean and hydrated. Help your products work well by layering them from most concentrated to most hydrating. Start with your serums, then follow with a few drops of lightweight facial oils for suppleness on dry skin. Next apply moisturizer, and finish with SPF or night creme.

Keep Skin Hydrated

Using a light moisturizer and a soft touch, apply to the face and neck in upward circular motions. Finish with a sunscreen with an SPF 30 or more for day, or a moisturizing night creme for evening.

Treat your body

Hydration isn’t just for our facial routine. Keeping your skin hydrated with oil and body lotion will help reverse the effects of coarse dry skin caused by sun and the elements and add a healthy glow to your skin. If you like to tan, use a lotion and self-tanner combination rather than laying out for extended periods of time. Keep your skin moisturized in between applications to keep your tan even.

Keep Skin Soft and supple

Lotion or light body oil will help moisturize your skin after bathing. Use a rich lotion or heavier oil at night or for relaxing at home, or try a mist-on variety of either lotion or oil for daytime use. I mist my body while standing on a towel or bath rug for safety.

Treat your hair

Primed, refreshed, and healthy hair will hold a hairstyle much better. Use a combination of treatments on your hair just like you would do on your face. Condition with a reparative hair mask, lock in the moisture and prime the hair with a leave-in treatment, then layer the styling products for your specific hair needs. Use a dry shampoo to extend your hairstyle and wash your hair less often to lessen drying and hair color fading.

Lock in the Hair Treatment Benefits

The next step in your miracle girl’s day is Miracle Creator, a leave-in treatment with 20 benefits as well. This spray-in hair treatment smells amazing and leaves the hair manageable and ready for styling on any hair type.

Spray Miracle Creator Multi-Tasking Treatment onto damp hair and comb through to distribute. Shape and air dry, or blow dry hair to style. Finish by applying Miracle Extender Dry Shampoo directly at the scalp to absorb any oils before they affect your hairstyle. Applying Miracle Extender at night is my miracle trick for perfect second day hair. Add a little more in the morning if necessary.

Take a little time for yourself as soon as possible! Treat yourself to a little refresh. Even 20 minutes of indulgence makes you feel like a new person. Take 60 extra seconds this week to try out Total Results Miracle Creator Mask, and take a little time to appreciate yourself. If you don’t take the time for your own well-being, who will? You’re worth it, and you deserve it. Don’t forget that!
